How to Ride

This description is for the paraglider version 3.6.3 (27 Dec 2008)
If you are using older versions, contact Shinobar Martinek inworld, or send email to shino@pos.to .

Viewer settings

We recommend the graphic drawing distance set to 128m or more to enjoy the scenary. You can set it at Edit > Preferences... > Graphics > Quality and Performance on the Second Life Viewer. Minimap helps you to see your position and direction. View > Camera Controls is also usefull tool for looking around and for taking snapshots.

Launching

Rez the SB Paraglider on the ground where building/rez and scripts allowed. The paraglider cannot start from Building/Rez-not-allowed nor Scripts-not-allowed area. At hill side or top of the buildings are better.

Right-click the paraglider and select 'Ride' to take a seat. SB Paraglider has 2 seats. The rider on the upper seat is the pilot. It automatically launches 30 seconds after the first person takes the seat. It launches soon when 2 seats are filled. Touch the paraglider for immediate launching if the rider is alone.

Status Indicator

Three lines are indicated above the wing.

  1. Wind: indicates the direction and the strength of the wind.
  2. Altitude: indicates the height from the ground level, or from horizon.
  3. Lifting force: is made by the wind and the direction of the paraglider. Arrows indicate the paraglider is going up or down.

The text turns green when the altitude is below 50m, yellow below 30m, and orenge below 10m. The alarm sounds below 30m and still going down. Press [Page Up]-key to try to go up.

Using keys

To make turn to the left/right, use Left-arrow-key[←] and Right-arrow-key[→]. Up-key[↑] is the accelerator, and Down-key[↓] is the brakes. You may be confused because up/down seem contrary. Use [Page Up]-key to go up, and [Page Down]-key to go down. Some key-combinations make some special movements.

Landing

Around the destination, roll and wait until altitude comes down below 10m. Then use Left/Right-arrow-key[←]/[→] to steer to the landing point. The paraglider automatically disappears soon after landing.

Accidents

The paraglider freezes if it goes in area where scripts not allowed. Right-click the paraglider and select 'Edit'. You can move it by dragging the arrows appeared. Move it to safe area and you can steer it again.

The paraglider disappears if all the riders dropped out. (You can drop out by pressing 'Stand up'-button on the viewer.) But at scripts-not-allowed area, it still freezes. Right-click, select 'More...' then select 'Delete' in this case, if you can.

It is easy. Enjoy!
